To say I'm pleased with the progress of StoreSuite NX would be an understatement! In my last post
I told you that we've re-commenced development of StoreSuite and since
then it's been all systems go - we're really making solid progress.
Here's an overview of the progress we've made in the last week:
- The
entire front-end template and rendering engines are finished and all
panels on the StoreSuite main page are now live and dynamic. StoreSuite
runs on the same simple template system as ArticleLive and HTML is
separate from PHP, so if you're a designer you can focus on customizing
the HTML and wont have to deal with PHP.
- Pages are done.
The site's navigation is fully dynamic and pages can have multiple
sub-pages. Pages are fully SEO optimized with their own titles, meta
data and on-page SEO tweaks. We decided to remove the right column of
top selling and new products on all content-driven pages to give more
room for the page content. Here's how a sample page looks anyway:

- We've
just finished the first part of dynamic promotion placement for
StoreSuite. It works in the same way AdSense blocks work for
ArticleLive: you can enable the placement of a promotion anywhere in
your StoreSuite store with one click, and then upload the promotion
image and specify a link. Here's how it looks in the control panel (so
far the promotions are only implemented for the home page):

As you can see, you can enable/disable the placement of promotions in different locations on your StoreSuite site. When you choose to enable a promotion you can upload the image and specify where it should link to. Here's how some sample promotions look on the front end:
- You want to clear excess stock, so you create a promotional image and link it to that product's page
- You want to advertise a special or seasonal discount on a specific product or category
- You want to show new visitors you have a special discounted shipping offer

Hey Mitch,
Looks great. IMHO a key feature for an effective, resellable eCommerce solution is a centralised 'core' respository of code that's used across multiple installations. If you've got 50 separate installations of Storesuite that need separately updating each time a new version's released - that's a slightly less attractive proposition from a resellers perspective.
Take a look at my post of 02-19-2007, 10:26:

[From Mitch: Thanks for the comment, JB, however StoreSuite will function exactly like ArticleLive in terms of installation and not SendStudio (for example). It's one install per website. Whenever we release a product update it always has a browser-based upgrade wizard to automatically perform the upgrade for you, so it's not too hard to update multiple copies]

Nice work Mitch and guys (of course we have come to expect perfection anyway :) )
It would be nice to be able to set some rules for offers similar to news items for AL - ie. publish the offer on dd/mm/yy and expire it on dd/mm/yy. Reckon that could be possible ?
Anyway, keep up the nice work ! :)

Hi Mitch, looking good, great idea for promotions. Will you be able to assign multiple images to products? The reason is I would like to be able to set this up to advertise properties as I'm a UK estate agent
[From Mitch: Hi Jac, yep you can have up to 5 images per product so that should suit you just fine :) ]

Hi Mitch
This is looking VERY cool. With all this FAST development, I hope the release will be sooner than 4Q. Is that possible? :)
A couple of key points.
1. Because of the tight integration with Sendstudio, I highly recommend making it so that if people sign up for an autoresponder sequence, which say - promotes a product - that the system is intelligent enough to know that once they've bought, they are taken off the sales autoresponder sequence, and put into a TRAINING autoresponder sequence.
This is a key to automation, having to take people off one list and put them into another is a real pain. Please be sure it can do this :)
I have emailed Chris about just putting this feature directly into Sendstudio, he said it was on the cards for an update in the future (hopefully soon :).
2. Also - can the shop be set to display either as a traditional shopping cart - as per your screen shots, or alternatively, as a single item only order page - as per many of the direct sales copy products (similar to 1shoppingcrt). So, a template can either be for selling multiple items through a shop, or just single items with a fast and super simple order form.
3. Also, with regards to payment gateways, can you include Verisign Payflow Pro and eWay.
keep up the great work!

As with ArticleLive, visitors can become authors and submit articles. Will StoreSuite have a similar vendor function - where visitors can become vendors, and upload 'digital/downloadable' content for sale - or a drop shipping function - where they get notified of new orders they need to ship. That would be very cool.
Will we be able to search by Product Name and Manufacturer and Keyword and Category - my main concern is the manufacturer level. Store: Manufacturer/Vendor: Category : Product Name: Product Options.
Eager clients awaiting this. In competition with BVSoftwrae and X-CART. I know you will exceed - just a matter of when and how. Can't wait to see it...

Will StoreSuite have the capability for recurring billing, ad trackers, coupons, and an affiliate module (what 1shoppingcart.com offers)?
What is the anticipated price range of this product?
[From Mitch: Hi Luke. We're still working out pricing so sorry no info on that just yet.]

Will adsense also be mixed into the promotions? For users that are resaling and using affiliate programs adsense would be an additonal source of revenue or auctionsads for exmaple.

Hi!
StoreSuite looks like a great application.
Can you tell me if it will be possible for me to set up user accounts/reseller accounts/multi site accounts in the application?
I am looking for an application that can handle this scenario:
I have a site where users can sign up for offers.
I then get advertisers to send offers to my users (using SendStudio).
But I would like to go even further with this site:
I want my advertisers to be able to publish offers/content on the web for my users to see (with or without a price i.e. just as an offer), and where the users can sign up to specific advertisers and their offers or several or all of them, or categories, or what ever.
Can I do something like this with StoreSuite and SendStudio?
Regards,
Steinar
[From Mitch: Hi Steinar. StoreSuite works more like ArticleLive then SendStudio, i.e. it's installed once per site , so unfortunately no it wont allow you to do that.]

Hi Mitch,
I can't find the correct article to post this comment, however I was talking to a potential customer today and he reminded me of some discount systems that need to be in the storesuite. To give a quick rundown:
Discounts per customer (either discount amount or discount % for certain type of customers "resellers, gold customer, returning customer etc.")
Discount on volume purchase, either % or amount, this goes for total order value or volume on a certain product.
Discount in a certain period either % or amount (think Christmas sale)
Discount on related products if purchased in combination.
Finally for some digital products and for some promotional items there needs to be a possibility to add a file to an order, for example to print a certain message on a product that is ordered and or a comment box that allows for comments regarding the order upon purchase.
Some thoughts, I hope you thought of them before and otherwise please take them into consideration.
Kind regards,
Richard
P.S. Finally for article live: a place where a user can track his/her comments with answers if available.

Just reading the threads. I thought the Store Suite was going to be server based and can be used for several domains like Site Center can be sued for several domains. I have one page sales sites with upsale products. I don't want to send my prospective client to a store front until I sell them on the primary product first.
I used 1shopping cart and liked the fact I could post my codes on any website. Will this be changed? Maybe a master license for us 1 page website designers to use on multiple domains.
[From Mitch: Hi Diane. StoreSuite works like ArticleLive in that you install it on each domain you want a store on, so it wont work like you mentioned. You can however create a page of content and show that as your home page instead of the default page and then include links to send people to your products]
