StoreSuite is shopping cart software that not only works great for those starting out selling online, but also for those with existing retail establishments looking to add an additional source of revenue to their business via selling online. I've spent the last few days working on the integration of an SMS text messaging module that sends a message straight to your cell/mobile phone when your store receives a new order.

The window above appears when you click the "Test Notification Method" link after confuguring SMS notifications in the StoreSuite control panel:



We're in the process of building our SMS messaging platform which will be ready by the time StoreSuite launches. It will be completely private label and will allow you to create an account to buy SMS credits so that you can receive order notification messages to your cell/mobile phone if you choose to.

Being notified via SMS message when an order comes through your store is just one of the many methods that will be available in StoreSuite when it's ready to go. StoreSuite will also have the ability to send an email to one/more people when you receive an order, as well as fax if we have the time. The order notification system is completely modular (like the shipping and checkout systems) and it's very easy to add your own custom module to notify you some other way when an order comes through your store (i.e. via pager, RSS feed, or an existing CRM system).

We're also in the process of building the ability to import from existing shopping cart software, and we'll post about that when it's near completion by the end of the week.
