For the last 2 weeks Chris Boulton has been in charge of building and implementing the store import wizard for StoreSuite. Today I'd like to show you how you can import your existing X-Cart, CubeCart and/or OsCommerce store in about 7 clicks, without knowing anything about databases.
StoreSuite's import store wizard allows you to import your entire existing X-Cart/CubeCart/OsCommerce store, or you can choose to only import specific parts of it (such as only products or only orders and customers). Here's a few points of note:
- All importing is done in real-time using AJAX, directly from the StoreSuite control panel
- You don't EVER have to worry about exporting databases or knowing MySQL or PHP
- You can see detailed error messages if anything goes wrong
- You can rollback after importing at any time and your store will be exactly as it was before you imported anything
I've put together a 3 minute video showing a complete X-Cart store import in under 2 minutes. You can watch the video here.
P.S. The video includes our new menu design, which I came up with last week. We're half way through redesigning the entire control panel as well, to make it more streamlined. What do you think of the menu so far?

Excellent! What would be really good for osCommerce is the ability to import product attributes
[From Mitch: Hi Quentin. The import takes care of product options. Basically anything and everything from OsCommerce is imported.]

Any plans for Volusion imports? How about export feeds for shopping comparision sites, like Shopping.com, Shopzilla.com, Google base, etc.
[From Chris: David, for the initial release of StoreSuite we plan to only include CubeCart, Os-Commerce and X-Cart import support. Additional importers will be developed after the initial release according to the demand for them and the level of complexity.
StoreSuite already contains built in functionality to create Froogle product export feeds. Additional formats, such as Shopping.com and ShopZilla will be added in to future releases.]

These are great but can it import our Lagarde Storefront db (MSSQL)? If so will this be available only in the Ultimate ver?j
[From Chris: Hi Franco, for the release we only have plans to support X-Cart, OsCommerce and CubeCart imports. Future importers will be made available in the future if there is enough demand for them. I'll take a look at Lagarde, but I can't make any promises as to when (or if) an importer will be available.]

Brilliant, I ask for this feature a while ago and you've delivered way above expectation. The menu also looks very intuitive.
Interspire should be careful...if you keep this up all the other software developers will start to get jealous! I find it amazing that developers like X-Cart have had years and years to perfect their script but fail miserably. Then an upstart like Interspire comes along and shows them all up after just a year in development.
Thankyou Interspire for really raising the bar on this one!

Does this mean that unless we use X-cart, Oscomm, or CubeCart that we get to add our 10K+ product listings one at a time? Why not have spent the time to make a .csv import that would have been compatible with a wider range of use? There are more people interested in your product that just those using 3 other carts.
[From Chris: Hi Tia, StoreSuite already contains built in CSV importing for customers and products, we we've got you covered with that. The importers will also be planned to cover applications after the release as well.]
