Interspire Shopping Cart Blog

Mitchell Harper

Hi, I'm Mitch - the cofounder of Interspire and lead developer of StoreSuite, an integrated eCommerce platform we're hoping to release in Q4 2007. I thought it would be a good idea to start blogging about the design and development of StoreSuite as I go. Get the full story here.

Welcome to the StoreSuite Blog!

StoreSuite is an eCommerce platform that's currently being developed by Interspire. I am the lead developer on the product, and as such thought it would be a good idea to start a blog about the entire development and design process...
Hi everyone. As many of you know, we've been planning to release a PHP eCommerce solution for a while now. Other things have taken priority recently (such as SendStudio NX, WebEdit NX and ArticleLive NX) and as such StoreSuite development kind of... well... stopped...
To say I'm pleased with the progress of StoreSuite NX would be an understatement! In my last post I told you that we've re-commenced development of StoreSuite and since then it's been all systems go - we're really making solid progress. Here's an overview of the progress we've made in the last week...
A detailed progress report will be posted on the blog tomorrow, but here's a 10 minute video of me developing StoreSuite; more specifically I am creating the screens where you can add "brands" to your StoreSuite-driven eCommerce site. I've just spent the last few hours building a tag cloud panel for StoreSuite. It appears when you're shopping by brand, so it's contextually relevant - if you choose to view products grouped by brand, you'd want to see a tag cloud for the other brands, right?...
I've just put together a quick video showing how brands work in StoreSuite. They can be listed in a standard format or as a tag cloud on the brands page. How brands are displayed will of course be configurable from the settings page in the StoreSuite control panel...
Most of today was spent implementing sorting into the category and branding pages. Sorting simply involves a dropdown box placed at the top of the page. When an option is clicked, the products are sorted, as shown:...
I've built a few eCommerce sites in my time, and one thing I know is that if you ask 5 people to use the site, they will generally shop in one of 5 different ways: by category, by impulse, by search, by brand or by price. I spent Friday implement the algorithms and design for the Shop by Price panel in StoreSuite...
I think the most important parts of any eCommerce site are the search quality and the product pages. I've spent the last few days building the basic foundation of the product pages in StoreSuite...
All eCommerce sites involve selling. The ability to compare 2 or more products side-by-side is an important feature for any eCommerce software. StoreSuite includes a neat product comparison engine that can be used to compare, sort and dynamically remove products from the comparison table as needed...
